Mary Ellen Cameron, 88, Roseburg, Oregon,
passed away peacefully at home on February 1,
2018. Per Mary Ellen's request, no public
services will be held.
Mary Ellen was born in Bonners Ferry to John and
Juanita Eastlund. As a child, she spent several
years in Clarkston, Washington, before the
family moved back to Bonners Ferry. In 1946,
Mary Ellen graduated from Bonners Ferry High
School.
In November of 1946, Mary Ellen married Robert
Bob Cameron, who preceded her in death in 2014.
She worked for the Bonners Ferry Herald until
she and Bob moved to Roseburg in 1949.
After arriving in Roseburg, Bob became involved
with the timber industry, owning his own logging
company while Mary Ellen worked for a life
insurance company before becoming a stay at home
mom.
She enjoyed cooking, entertaining at their home
on the beautiful North Umpqua River, and fishing
for king salmon in Alaska.
Mary Ellen is survived by sons Bruce Cameron and
Scott Cameron, both of Roseburg, andn Brian
Cameron, Soldotna, granddaughter Lindsay Cameron
Roberts, Roseburg, grandsons, T.J. Cameron,
Roseburg, and Marshal Cameron, Soldotna,
great-granddaughter Addison Cameron Roberts, and
brother Tom and his wife Ann, Sweethome, Oregon,
along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and one sister preceded her in
death.
In 1950, a son was born and died at two days of
life. In 1954, her son Stephen was born and died
at age two and half years due to a heart defect.
Mary Ellen will embrace them in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be
made to a charity of your choice. |
