Max Lamar Fisher, 81, long time resident of
Naples, passed away peacefully on October 24,
2012, in Sandpoint after a long battle with
Parkinson’s disease. Private arrangements were
held with interment in the Grandview Cemetery,
Bonners Ferry.
Max was born to Vernon and Josie fisher in
Mountain Home, Idaho, on July 21, 1931.
After graduating high school he enlisted in the
US Army, where he served as a paratrooper for
the Army Airborne during the Korean War. Max
received many honors during his services
including the Silver Star for Valor.
Upon his discharge in 1952, he moved to the
township of Meadow Creek, Idaho, to begin his
railway career with the Spokane International
Rail Road, shortly thereafter being transferred
to Eastport to serve as a clerk telegrapher for
the SI Rail Road.
At this time he met Lucille Woodbury-Owsley, and
they were married. Together they had one son,
Gary Fisher, who was born in 1960. They were
later divorced. Max met long-time resident Katie
Fudge and fell in love with and married her
daughter, Lucy Fudge. They relocated to Naples
as Max began working for the Great Northern Rail
Road as a slide patrolman. They resided there
permanently.
They enjoyed more than 30 years together
gardening and canning, hunting, fishing and
family.
Max is preceded in death by his loving wife Lucy
Fisher and sister Jean Chitenden of Caldwell,
Idaho.
Max is survived by brothers Hugh Fisher, Sunset,
Utah, Daryl Fisher, Kuna, Idaho; son Gary Fisher
of Bonners Ferry; granddaughters Kendra and Lila
Fisher, great granddaughter Alyiah Fisher and a
very special person dear to his heart Diane
Fisher-Marcy, all of Bonners Ferry.
