James
D. Fries, 58, passed away peacefully with his
wife at his side on Friday, April 13, at the
Boundary County Nursing Home in Bonners Ferry,
after a courageous three year battle with
cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2
p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Great Northwest
Territories facility off of Highway 95, milepost
498, near Naples.
Jim was born August 30, 1953, in Spokane,
Washington. He grew up in Harrington,
Washington, and graduated high school there in
1971. Growing up, he worked in his family's auto
repair business. He carried on the family
tradition by first purchasing a Chevron station
in Davenport, Washington, at age 22; then again
in Bonners Ferry, where he owned and operated
his second Chevron station along with his wife,
Cheryl, for over 31 years.
Jim loved adventurist and unique activities. His
passions included hunting, archery, soccer,
snowmobiling, tearing up the roads on the Harley
Davidson, and of course, his beloved favorite
football team, the Seattle Sea hawks - win or
lose.
Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cheryl,
sons, Jeff with his wife Jen of Post Falls, and
Richard with his wife Brandy of Port Orchard,
Washington; parents Jerry and Joan Fries and his
siblings, Mike Fries, Mel Fries, Laura Hunt, and
Dale Luders.
Because of their assistance in times of need,
Jim requested that support be shown by donations
made to Boundary County Ambulance and/or the
Bonners Ferry Fire Department.
Family and friends are invited to sign Jim’s
book at
www.bonnersferryfuneralhome.com.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of
Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. |
