Bernice
(Jacobsen) Figg, 96, passed away on April 6,
2012, at the Community Restorium in Bonners
Ferry. Private services will be held at
Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery in Seattle.
She was born on August 29, 1915, in Seattle, one
of seven children born to Bernt and Julia
Jacobsen.
She married Charles A. Figg in 1934. She was a
housewife until the outbreak of WWII, at which
time she went to work for Standard Oil Company
until the end of the war, at which time she went
back to being a housewife, residing at the
family home in the shoreline area of North
Seattle.
In 1951 daughter Charlene was born.
In 1981, her husband of 47 years, Charles,
passed away. Bernice remained living in the
family home until 1999, at which time she moved
to Bonners Ferry to live with her daughter and
son-in-law. In September, 2011, she moved to the
Community Restorium, where she lived until her
death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernt
and Julia Jacobsen, husband Charles A. Figg,
sisters Lillian Jacobsen; Mildred Jacobsen and
Helen Bucher, and brothers Jacob Jacobsen and
Harold Jacobsen.
She is survived by daughter Charlene (Dennis)
Johnson of Bonners Ferry, granddaughter Kerry
(Scott) Smith, Maricopa, Arizona,
great-granddaughters Shayla and Ashley Schulz,
also of Maricopa, and sister Lillian (Wayne)
Moore, Lynnwood, Washington.
