Alvin
Edward Maas passed away December 2, 2011.
Alvin’s family will have a gathering at a later
date to celebrate his life.
Alvin was born December 8, 1929, to Fred and
Mollie Maas. He grew up on the family farm and
attended Sheridan School. He was drafted into
the Army in 1951, and returned to Bonners Ferry
after he was discharged in 1953.
Alvin married Dorothy (Happy) Worley in 1955.
Over the years, Alvin worked as a mechanic and
heavy equipment operator. He worked for the
Moyie River Lumber Company, Davidson-Kelson
Construction, and was co-owner of a shop at the
Three-Mile Corner. He enjoyed many years of
farming and ranching.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his
children and eventually his grandchildren show
their 4-H animals at the fair.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy,
infant sister Evelyn, his father Fred, mother
Mollie and siblings Carl Maas , Bill Maas, and
Dorothy Friedly.
Surviving family members include his brother
Gerhart (Marva) Maas, sister Sharon Wiseman,
children Carol (Ernest) Lucero, Susan (Todd)
Booth, Kathy (Gary) Stueve, Edie (Steve)
Guthrie, and Fred (Denise) Maas.
Alvin has nineteen grandchildren and eleven
great grandchildren.
He loved the farm and the country life style.
Over the years, he shared many stories of his
adventures, which have been enjoyed by all.
