Dale Ardon Severson, “Sevo”, went home to be
with his Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2011,
at his home in Coeur d’ Alene. A celebration of
Dale’s life was held Friday, December 2, at
Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’ Alene.
Dale was born in Coeur d’ Alene on June 17,
1951, to Hazel and Ardon Severson. He spent the
first years of his life in Post Falls, attending
Post Falls elementary and junior high school.
Dale loved to play basketball. He is still
remembered today as a starter on what might have
been the most talented junior high team to ever
play at Post Falls. In his ninth year of school,
the family moved to Bonners Ferry, where Dale
completed high school and worked in the saw mill
for over 30 years.
In 2002, Dale married Peggy Gwin and moved to
Spokane. While living there, Dale had the
opportunity to do what he enjoyed and did best –
working with wood and carpentry. He purchased an
old dilapidated house and turned it into a
beautiful home. After that project he began
working on another home in Coeur d’ Alene; it
was to be the retirement home for him and Peggy.
Although he became ill while working on the
house, Dale lived to see and enjoy the beautiful
“fruits of his labor” before he passed. When he
was not working on a project, Dale loved to be
out on the lake fishing.
At the age of eight, Dale accepted Jesus as his
Savior and was water baptized while at a youth
camp in Post Falls. He and Peggy attended church
at Life Center North in Spokane and later Real
Life Ministries in Post Falls.
Dale was a quiet and unpretentious man who loved
family and friends. It was family and friends
who supported him emotionally and spiritually
during his time of illness.
Dale was preceded in death by his father, mother
and sister, Pam Severson. He is survived by his
loving wife, Peggy; daughter Jamie Lenz; son
Damon Severson; brother’s Roger Ellig and Kim
Severson; three grandsons; two granddaughters;
three stepsons; two step-granddaughters; and one
step-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly
appreciate contributions be sent to “The Jerri
Gwin Mission Fund” at 6786 N. Calispel Drive,
Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho 83815.
