Donald
R. Lincks, 59, lost his battle to cancer on
Monday, September 26. He died peacefully at his
home in Bonners Ferry. Services were held
Saturday, October 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church,
with interment at Grandview Cemetery.
Don was born in East Cleveland, Ohio, August 29,
1952, to Edwin M. Lincks and Jeannette R.
Johnson. In 1959 he became step-son to Leslie H.
Levig and moved to Bonners Ferry. As a first
grader Don moved with his family to California,
settling in Fairfax. He attended school there
and graduated from Sir Francis Drake High School
in 1971. After graduation Don enlisted in the
U.S. Army.
After his first cancer diagnosis, he was given
less than six months to live, and Don surprised
everyone when he survived that fight. After his
recovery in 1991, he moved from California to
Bonners Ferry, where he managed Levig Nursery
until the time of his death.
Don’s passion was his family. He devoted his
life to being a father to Jessica and Sean. In
2004, Don married his soul mate, Sharon (Meyer)
Barcklay. She was by his side through his final
battle with cancer and with him when he passed.
Don’s survivors include his parents, children,
and wife. He is also survived by sisters Cathy
Hatcher, Beth Butters, Lynn Self, a brother
Dennis, and 10 adoring grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to sign Don’s
book at
www.bonnersferryfuneralhome.com.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of
Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.
