Dale
Arthur Sargent, 81, passed away at the Mountain
View Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on July 8,
2011. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday, July 16, in the Bonners Ferry Funeral
Home, with interment in the McArthur Cemetery at
Naples.
Dale was born on September 6, 1929, to Arthur
and Ruth Sargent in the Bonners Ferry Hospital.
He received his education at a school in
Highland Flats and then graduated from Bonners
Ferry High School in 1947. After graduation,
Dale worked for his father, and then joined the
Army, where he served from 1950 to 1953 in
Oklahoma, Japan and Korea.
After returning to Naples, Dale worked for 20
years as a foreman and assistant manager of the
Kokanee Cedar Sales Mill. Later, he worked as a
cedar fence broker for 10 years before retiring
in the early 1990s. He continued to manage his
farm, removing dead and down timber.
Throughout his life, Dale love hunting,
especially elk in the Lochsa area west of
Missoula, Montana. He started the Elk Unlimited
Chapter for Boundary County and the annual big
horn show.
He had a great love of the land and nature. His
land was placed in a conservation easement so
the land could provide wildlife habitat and
timber growing without development.
Survivors include a nephew, David Stern, Otis
Orchards, Washington; niece Lorrie Sherod,
Spokane; four grand-nieces and three
grand-nephews.
