Larry
Oliver Billingsley, 78, lost his battle with
cancer at his home in Bonners Ferry on May 2,
2011. Services were held May 6 at the Bonners
Ferry Funeral Home.
Larry was born in Linton, North Dakota, on
February 6, 1933, to Emerson and Bernice
Billingsley. He had one brother and one sister.
In 1935 the family moved to Moyie Springs,
Idaho. Larry worked at the Moyie River Lumber
Co. for a short time, logged and sold Christmas
trees. For over 50 years, he split cedar
starting with picket wood, then post and rails
and shakewood. He loved splitting cedar. He
taught his son Mike how to log at eight years
old.
Larry joined the Army at the age of 17 and he
went to Germany and drove tanks. He came home in
1954. Larry married Veryl Morrison in 1954 and
they had one child, Michael.
In 1958 Larry was nominated to the office of
Justice of the Peace of Moyie Springs. In 1966
they divorced and later he met Juudy Neer. They
got married and had twins, Donna and Danna.
Larry loved to pick huckleberries, traveling,
fishing on the coast, hunting and gambling.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents,
brother and sister.
Survivors include son Mike and wife Susan
Billingsley, Troy, Montana; daughters Donna
Vickroy and husband Kevin, also of Troy; Danna
Lemmert, Moyie Springs, six grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
