George Robert Counts, 81, of Moyie Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 in Bonners Ferry,
Idaho.

He was born
Dec. 19, 1929 in
Alleghany County, Virginia,
the son of A.P. and Ella (Dameron) Counts. He attended
schools in Virginia
and worked in sawmills there. He served in the U.S. Army
for 27 years during the Korean and
Viet Nam
wars prior to his retirement in 1974. During his
military career he was stationed in
Japan,
Korea,
Viet Nam,
Alaska
and Okinawa in addition to
various state side assignments.
He was married to Kiyoko Nishigima
on May 12, 1963, in Tokyo,
Japan. Following
his retirement they moved to Moyie
Springs,
Idaho, where they have since resided.
George was a lifetime member of the
NRA, enjoyed hunting in the area, and working on his
rifles and reloading equipment. He also taught youth
hunter safety courses in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Kiyoko,
Moyie Springs; son Robert Counts, Newport, Oregon,
daughter Loretta (Nana) Counts,
Yokahama,
Japan; and four
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents,
three brothers, and two sisters.
