Two collisions, two rescues, one injured
December 27, 2017
Boundary Ambulance and fire personnel worked together to free a woman who went over a guard rail and down an embankment on Peterson Hill this morning.
A Moyie Springs woman was seriously injured this morning in one of two motor vehicle collisions that kept emergency responders busy until well into this afternoon.

The first incident occurred at about 9:12 a.m. when a vehicle was reported to have gone over a guardrail and rolled down an embankment on Highway 95 near mile 501 on Peterson Hill.

Sheriff Dave Kramer and deputies found the vehicle on its top in deep snow about 20 to 40 feet down the hill from the roadway, the driver, whose name has not been released, still strapped in and able to talk, but unable to get out. Boundary Ambulance extrication personnel, using rope rescue gear, were able to free her in fairly short order.

Amazingly, her injuries were only minor.

The collision was reported clear at about 10:31 a.m.

At about 11:16 a.m., crews were once again scrambled when a collision was reported between a semi and a passenger vehicle on Roosevelt Road in Moyie Springs. Initially reported at Zimmerman Road, first responders found the collision at Leo Lane, with a semi still in the roadway with a white passenger car pushed off the icy roadway.

Boundary Ambulance personnel extricated and provided initial treatment for Norma Gorman, 84, Moyie Springs, an occupant of the car, and transported her to Boundary Community Hospital, where she was stabilized before being flown to Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, for advanced care.

Idaho State Police was responsible for investigating both crashes, no further information was released. In addition to the Boundary County Sheriff's Office and Boundary Ambulance, thanks go out to fire personnel and to the wrecker teams who responded.
Medical personnel and firefighters freed Norma Gorman, 84,from the white passenger car after a collision on Roosevelt Road this morning. She was later flown to Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, for treatment of her injuries.
