Two circuses coming, only one giving back to community
May 31, 2017
Thanks to the sponsorship of the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club, Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, America’s Favorite Big Top Circus, is coming to Boundary County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, June 14, with scheduled performances at 5 and 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the circus will come back to the community as a major fundraiser for the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club, which sponsors or helps with numerous local events and activities and also gives thousands each year to worthy local students who go on to higher education.

The Rotary scheduled the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus over six months ago, and recently learned that a second circus is now scheduled to be in Bonners Ferry on June 11, and Rotary members don't want anyone to be confused as to which one is doing more for the community than bringing lions and tigers.

Now in its 32nd edition, the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus has become internationally known for quality family entertainment. This authentic one-ring, big top circus has been featured on National Geographic’s Explorer TV series, Entertainment Tonight, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, Arizona Highways Magazine and more.

It has also been featured on the A&E special "Under the Big Top" and most recently in "On the Road with Circus Kids," a Nickelodeon special featured on the Nick News Program.

Bring your friends and family and especially the kids out between 9:30 and 10 a.m. circus morning to watch as our Boundary County Fairground is transformed into a bustling Circus City. Activity swirls around the grounds as animals are unloaded, the Big Top is erected, and rigging is prepared for performances later in the day.

After the raising of the Big Top, stay for the free circus tour, a presentation that offers a unique face-toface opportunity for families, schools and interested community members to meet and learn all about the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus family and includes a walking tour of the circus grounds.

Learn interesting facts about their performers, the history of their show and the different species of animals that travel with them from town to town to regale audiences nationwide. In this presentation, they address topics such as hygiene, grooming and the veterinary care all of the animals in their family receive.

In recent years the tent raising and morning tour have become a popular program for families and interested community members. It is presented in a way that everyone, young and old, can learn many interesting facts about the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus family and see a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what goes into the making of a modern day traditional circus.

When the big top opens for the evening's shows, the Culpepper & Merriweather performers bring the magic of the circus to life in each 90-minute performance.

This year’s lineup includes an All-Star group of performers and entertainers that include Miss Simone and her breath taking single trapeze, Miss Paulina’s proud “Big & Little” prancing ponies, the Arlise Troupe on their wild and crazy unicycles, Natalie’s American Eskimo Escapades, Miss Georgia displaying flexibility to the extreme and, for the first time ever, the Wheel of Destiny & Tight Rope by The Perez Family.

And let's not forget the amazing performing jungle cats Soloman, Delilah and Francis, presented by Mr. Trey Key, that will certainly have you on the edge of your seats!

All accompanied by original music composed by the talented Matt Margucci from Los Angeles, California. The performers, animals and antics are sure to amaze, delight and entertain the audience members of all ages beyond your wildest imagination!

The costumes alone are amazing!
