Applegate's body recovered from river
March 22, 2017
The body of a Bonners Ferry man who fell into the Kootenai River near Troy while scouting for wedding locations with his fiancé in December has been recovered by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Lincoln County Undersheriff Brandon Huff said in a news release the body of 41-year-old Trevor Applegate was recovered around noon today.

Huff says Fish Wildlife and Parks employees working in the area located the body in the water and called 911.

Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies, Troy volunteer ambulance, Troy volunteer fire and the David Thompson Search and Rescue team were called in to search for the man after he slipped in the river on the afternoon of December 6, according to Sheriff Roby Bowe.

High river flows, cold temperatures and icy conditions along the river banks hampered rescue efforts.
