Flood watch issued for tonight, Wednesday
March 13, 2017
The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a flood watch for portions of Idaho and Washington, including Boundary and Bonner Counties, in effect from 5 p.m. today through late Wednesday night.

Rounds of moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast to start tonight and persist through late Wednesday night. Temperatures will be mild and snow level highs, leading to increased snow melt, especially in the valleys and mid slopes of northeast Washington and North Idaho.

With the saturated and somewhat frozen soil conditions, water will be slow to drain and dissipate. Rock falls and slides on steep slopes are possible. In addition, low spots with poor drainage or those areas that are still dealing with flooding from recent events may see additional flood problems.

Small stream and creeks will see increased flows. Localized flooding is possible in areas where storm drains and ditches are full of snow or standing water.
