BFHS welcomes semester two and hopes for more sun!
February 22, 2017
By Principal Kevin Dinning
Bonners Ferry High School

In total, semester one flew by, and I don’t know where the time went. I am thankful for a great semester, and there are many people that I will be thanking in the coming weeks for helping BFHS put another semester under our belt.

However, it is important that I express my gratitude to one particular set of people publicly. They deserve it, and they are taking ownership of the culture at BFHS.

BFHS students continue to surprise me on a regular basis. I could go without some of the infrequent disciplinary surprises, but they come with the territory. The students at BFHS have worked hard to meet the expectations for behavior this year, and it is noticed by everyone in the building.

I challenge you all to better yourself every day, but it is important to iterate that you have been Badger Awesome this year. I am proud to say you are my students! Thank you!

Some upcoming events to look for are the announcement of our Top Ten including Valedictorian and Salutatorian. The counseling staff at BFHS has worked hard to work the kinks out of our weighted GPA calculation, and we are committed to making sure it is done correctly before it is published.

Winter sports are racing to the finish with the girls basketball season completed, wrestling heading to the state tournament, cheer and dance travelling to district competition, and the boys basketball team looking to pick some teams off at the district tournament.

Robotics has officially put their robot in the bag after the completion of their build, and BFHS Leadership is off to Boise for Leadership State.

We are in the middle of FFA week, so if you see a few tractors at the school or hear of better burger challenge, you will know why. Aida opens this week, and I encourage you to bring your family and enjoy the show!

A huge kudos to the BFHS staff for getting us into Semester two. You are amazing people to work with, and you are owed the same gratitude as the students for deciding to change the culture at BFHS. Thank you for being here for the students of BFHS! Thank you for being Badger Awesome.
