December 26, 2016
The winter storm watch issued Sunday for the region has been upgraded to a winter storm warning in Boundary, Bonner and part of Kootenai County, indicating a higher certainty of adverse weather.

The warning is in effect from 7 p.m. today through 10 a.m. Tuesday, as National Weather Service forecasters now predict that three to six inches of new snow will fall, though the amount tapers to around two inches from Bonners Ferry north to the Canadian line.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the lower 20s overnight and winds will likely pick up, with southerly winds of three to 10 miles per hour overnight, shifting to the southwest after 10 a.m. Tuesday and increasing to eight to 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 30.
