Leadership Class tops FFA; everybody wins!
December 20, 2016
By Superintendent Gary Pfleuger

The Boundary County Middle School Leadership Class under Kelly Hinthorn out donated the Bonners Ferry High School FFA and Julie Smith in a friendly competition to support the Ministerial Association Christmas food basket delivery program.

These two groups challenged each other as to who could collect the most frozen turkeys and/or hams for this wonderful community organization.

BCMS took the contest with a total score of 82-56 (BCMS 70 turkeys/12 hams; BFHS 4 turkeys/51 hams).

FFA earned bonus points by delivering the items to Memorial Hall at the Fairgrounds in a driving snow storm on Monday morning. Transportation Director Bill Irwin was at the helm of the bus during the storm.

At Memorial Hall, a large number of volunteers accepted the students' hams and turkeys with cheers and open arms. The smiles on the student's and volunteer's faces was priceless!

I am proud to watch our students give back to our community. We are a community school! We are all in this together; we must support each other!
