Augusta Street project complete
November 7, 2016
Bonners Ferry Clerk/ Treasurer Kris Larson, Bonners Ferry Mayor David Sims, Valley View Elementary Principal Nathan Williams, Bonners Ferry City Councilman Ron Smith, School District 101 Superintendent Gary Pflueger, and Bonners Ferry Street Superintendent John Youngwirth, look on as Valley View substitute kindergarten teacher Debbie Pauls leads her class across a newly refurbished Augusta Street.
A group of Bonners Ferry officials and school district personnel were joined Thursday by a happy bunch of Valley View kindergarten students to celebrate the completion of a a street project designed, among other things, to make it easier and safer for Valley View students to get to and from school.

The Augusta Street project was funded primarily with a $375,000 Community Choices Grant from the Idaho Transportation Department.

One of the main goals of the project was to increase pedestrian safety. The project includes an upgraded highway pedestrian crossing, a sidewalk from the highway to Valley View Elementary School, a pedestrian crossing in front of the Valley View School, improved drainage, and an asphalt overlay of the street.
