Heavy snow expected Tuesday
January 22, 2018
A winter storm watch has been issued for North Idaho, northeast Washington and the Okanogan Highlands for heavy snow from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service, Spokane, said travel conditions are expected to be difficult, especially for the Tuesday evening commute, with two to six inches of snow possible in the valleys and nearly a foot falling at higher elevations.

Temperatures in Bonners Ferry are expected to be in the mid to upper 30s during the day on Tuesday, cooling into the low to mid 30s heading east into Troy.

The snow is expected to be heavy and wet, which could damage or bring down trees and power lines, resulting in isolated power outages. The snow is expected to turn over to rain in the valleys, leading to slush and very difficult travel conditions.
