Cowell moves up in Rod Benders Car Club
January 17, 2018
Last Wednesday, Richard Cowell was elected Vice President/Show Chairman by the Rod Benders Car Club. For the last year he's been in charge of their public relations, handling their advertising and serving as webmaster.

Now he'll be in charge of overseeing the car show as show chairman and running club business a vice president.

"For those who don’t know, the Rod Bender's biggest car show of the year since 1999, formally know as the "Borders 3 Jamboree," draws between 200 and 250 classic street rods into downtown Bonners Ferry every year," Cowell said. "This event brings business from Washington, Montana and Canada all to our little town. I’m extremely excited for this new year and looking forward to bringing many new changes to this year's show to make it better than before."

In the next coming months Cowell will be approaching local businesses for advertising as well as for assistance in putting on this show, either by donation of door prize items or financially.

Last year, in partnership with The Rusty Moose and Woody's Gun and Pawn, the Rod Benders put on a Friday night cruise around town with dinner afterwards. Cowell is hoping to again do something like that, but with a much bigger crowd and more participation.

"We are still in the planning stages and look forward to any ideas and suggestions anyone within the community may have," Cowell said. "Our meetings are always open to the public and I know I have many friends who are car enthusiasts. If any of you are interested in joining the Rod Benders club please let me know! Whether you have a car or don’t, like new cars or classic ... It doesn’t matter, we’d be happy to have you!"

The Rod Benders next meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, at the Chic-N-Chop Restaurant, 6421 Main Street, Bonners Ferry, and they meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
