Arizona man missing in Alaska

December 27, 2013
Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks are asking for the public’s help in locating an Arizona man who hasn’t been seen since December 14. Keith Stompro, 66, checked into Pike’s Waterfront Lodge on December 10 and was scheduled to stay a few days.

Hotel personnel contacted Alaska State Troopers on December 20 after no one at the hotel had seen him in days despite his personal belongings, including valuables, being left in the hotel room.

Troopers believe Stompro has been in Alaska since the beginning of November. He rented a car in Anchorage and eventually headed north toward Fairbanks.

While en route, his rental car collided with a herd of caribou on the Parks Highway near Cantwell on December 10. The crash totaled the car. Nonetheless, he managed to find a ride to Fairbanks where he checked into Pikes that day.

He was last seen by hotel cleaning staff on December 14. Stompro is described as five-feet, nine-inches tall, weighing 165 pounds with hazel eyes and graying brown hair. His clothing description and direction of travel are unknown.

If anyone has had any contact with Stompro since December 10 or information leading to his whereabouts, please contact Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks at (907) 451-5100. Reference incident number AK130955037.
