Winter storm moving in
|
December 13, 2013 |
By Terry Dolan
Director of Public Works
A winter storm is moving through the area and although the core
area of the Borough is not expected to be heavily impacted,
Anchorage and the eastern areas of the Borough are likely to
receive heavy snow.
The National Weather Service is calling for up to 16 inches of
snow in the mountainous part of the Borough along the Glenn
Highway east of the 30 Mile Lake area and north past the Borough
boundary east of Denali State Park.
In the core area we are expecting about an inch of snow today
and possibly three more inches overnight with higher amounts in
higher elevations. The Saturday forecast calls for one to three
inches of additional snow.
Borough road maintenance teams will continue to work the
roadways throughout the weekend. Please drive carefully and
expect slick conditions on curves, hills and at intersections. |
