Free hiring fair for veterans set

August 25, 2012
The American Legion is sponsoring "Hiring Our Heroes," a free hiring fair for military veterans and their spouses September 29 in Coeur d'Alene.

The free event welcomes both employers seeking to fill positions and those who've served along with spouses, who either need work or want a better job, regardless of branch, whether active duty, National Guard or Reserve.

Hiring Our Heroes launched an online partnership with Military.com to compliment face-to-face hiring fair efforts across the country. Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers, and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers. Go to www.military.com/hiringourheroes to get the tools you need to find your next career.

While walk-ins are welcome, job seekers are encouraged register on-line for free to guarantee being served. To register, click here. Local employers seeking to hire veterans can also sign up through that link.

In addition to the American Legion, other groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Labor Veteran's Employment and Training Service, the Idaho Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Saint Vincent DePaul, the Idaho Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are taking part.

The Hiring Our Heroes Coeur d'Alene hiring fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 29, at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, 4056 North Government Way.
