Habitat getting ready for house nine

Boundary County Habitat for Humanity is now
accepting applications for their ninth house to
be built in Bonners Ferry.
Boundary County Habitat for Humanity is a group
of volunteers dedicated to building decent,
affordable homes for families with the greatest
need. The homes, built with contributions of
money, materials, labor and love, are then sold
without interest or profit to families who do
not qualify for bank loans.
There are guidelines for an applicant to qualify
for a Habitat home.
Applicants must have a housing need and be
willing to contribute 300 hours of sweat-equity
for a single parent or 500 hours for two
parents. They must be a citizen of the United
States, and be a Boundary County resident for at
least one year.
Also, criminal and financial backgrounds are
required. When approved, applicants will be
asked to make a $800 down payment over a one
year period.
