A family outing at Twin Rivers Canyon Resort
ended in tragedy today with the drowning of a
16-year-old Bonners Ferry girl.
Janna Mong, a student at Kootenai Valley
Mennonite School, was transported by ambulance
to Boundary Community Hospital, but the attempt
to revive her failed.
The accident occurred at about 6 p.m. as several
people were cooling off, swimming in a pond. A
family member realized that Janna was missing,
and moments later a young man who remembered
where he'd seen her dove in and pulled her to
shore, where resuscitation efforts began and
someone called 911. |
