DHS to do battle to help local boy

June 4, 2012
Mark your calendars for 5 p.m. Saturday, June 23; that's when two teams from the Department of Homeland Security will take to the field to do some flag football combat, not only for your entertainment, but to raise money for a local boy in need.

The Blue Team will be made up of field operations agents of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Green Team of agents from the U.S. Border Patrol, and they'll be facing off at the Bonners Ferry High School football field in the first of what is to become an annual charity event.

This year, proceeds will help purchase a special tricycle to help a special local five year old boy, who is suffering from cerebral palsy, gain a measure of mobility.

Admission to the event is free, and donations will be accepted at the gate. In addition to some great flag football, attendees can also partake of some great food anf refreshments, being served up by the BFHS Junior Class Parents.

The event is being sponsored by the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club, Far North Outfitters, the Three Mile Store and Cafe and Safeway, and everyone is invited to help a young Bonners Ferry boy and to launch a local tradition.
