A lot going on at Valley View

May 20, 2012
By Principal Paul Pfleuger

The ISAT Testing is over and everyone survived—in fact, everyone improved! This increase shows a very positive direction for VVES and the Boundary County School District. Results will be available to you before too long.

We held the Jog-A-Thon today. This was NOT a fund raiser—it was an exercise in exercise. We did it for health-sake; and the students had fun!

As you can see from the list below, we have A LOT going on at Valley View! For the volunteers who have helped us all year, please join us at the Volunteer Appreciation on June 4th at 9 a.m. Following a school wide assembly, treats will be served. The staff vs. the 5th grade kickball game will begin at 10 a.m.

Volunteers, you are on the Faculty Team!

The last day of school is June 7th. We will have a short 5th grade Promotion Ceremony beginning at 8:30 a.m. All parents of the 5th grade class are invited for this Celebration of Completion.

People have asked me how they can help our school community, even though they have a busy schedule—here is a painless way that makes a large financial contribution: BoxTops! Through our school alone we have raised $1,574.00 this year by turning in BoxTops (see the back of this letter for a list of the ones that count). If we raised this much with limited support, imagine what we can raise if we get the community and our relatives involved. By the way, we still collect Campbell’s Soup Labels also. Please continue collecting over the summer!

It looks like a GO for the Talent Show! We will hold auditions during lunch the week of the 21st. The Talent Show will begin at 3 p.m. in the Gym on May 31st!

I will send out one more parent communication before the end of the school year. I have truly enjoyed the year and look forward to finishing my career in this fine community. Though we have come a long way this year, we still have a long way to go. The teachers and I openly accept the on-going challenge of improving our school program.
