Anderson still Mr. Mayor

November 8, 2011
by Mike Weland

With 30.9-percent of the registered voters in the City of Bonners Ferry casting ballots, incumbent mayor Dave Anderson fended off a challenge by Stephen Galbraith to retain his seat, garnering 243 votes to 170 for the challenger.

In the race for Bonners Ferry City Council, soon-to-be former police chief Rick Alonzo led the race, bringing in 235 votes to gain a seat, and incumbent Connie Wells pulled in 218 votes to retain her seat. Former councilman Dave Gray garnered 164 votes, and incumbent Chris Clark, whose candidacy was clouded by a potential move outside city limits, earned 146 votes.

Turnout in Moyie Springs was slightly less, with 26.6-percent of the voters turning out to fill two seats on the city council.

Incumbent Terry Johnson was the top vote-getter, with 54 votes, and Bart Klaus was one tick behind with 53 to take the seat vacated by Geoff Hollenbeck. Doug Reoch brought in 34 votes and Rosanne Smith garnered 19 votes.

Those elected today will be sworn in to assume their office in January.
