School District 101 gearing up for winter

The members of the Local Emergency Planning
Committee heard this morning from a
representative of the National Weather Service
office in Spokane that conditions are ripe ...
again, for another bad winter, promising
above-average precipitation in the form of snow
and below average temperatures, which mean the
snow may well stay longer once it hits and
sticks.
New superintendent of School District 101
Richard Conley and his staff are gearing up to
make sure that families are informed as early as
possible when bad weather might affect school
schedules.
They've already prepped the school closure
hot-line, (208) 267-8934, and the call list of
media available to get the news out quick has
been updated and tested.
In the event of an emergency, snow or otherwise,
Mr. Conley will immediately update the hotline
and he'll be sending out calls to AM 1450, KBFI,
FM 91.9 KPBX, FM 94 KDRK, FM 95.3 KPND, and
Country K 102.
The news will be provided local television
stations KREM, KHQ and KXLY.
News of closures will also be posted on the
School District's web site,
www.bcsd101.com;
as well as right here on News Bonners Ferry.

Even when conditions don't warrant school
closures, Mr. Conley asks parents to recognize
that ever-cooling conditions mean kids need
ever-increasing warm clothes ... when the
weather gets yucky, school buses might run a bit
behind, and kids might have to wait a little
longer than normal for their bus to arrive. |
