Borders Three winners named

The 2011 Borders Three Jamboree, put on June 6 by the Bonners Ferry Rod Benders Car Club, was the most successful so far, with record attendance and classic cars from as far away as Albany, Oregon.

The Borders Three Jamboree filled downtown Bonners Ferry with classic cars from around the region June 6, with more than 200 cars, trucks, motorcycles and other machines on display, the best show thus far since the Bonners Ferry Rod Benders Car Club began putting on the show.

It took a good bit of time and effort on the part of the judges to determine the best of the best, but they diligently stuck to their work and came up with a fine assortment. You can see the winners by visiting the Rodbenders web site at http://idahorodbenders.com.

This 1934 Plymouth 5 Windows Coupe, owned by Chet Jackman, Sagle, was named "Best in Show" for the 2011 Borders Three Jamboree.
Best of Show honors went to the 1934 Plymouth 5 window coupe owned by Chet Jackman of Sagle. The Top 12 were: 12: 1959 Chevy Impala, Ryne Rae, Bonners Ferry, 11: 1962 Chevy Belair, Danny Penner, Cranbrook, British Columbia, 10: 1965 Chevy Corvette, Ken Tzakis, Creston, British Columbia, 9: 1963 Dodge Dart convertible, Tim Devine, Sagle, 8: 1959 Chevy Corvette, Rick and Kim Kanski, Creston, 7: 1957 Chevy Belair, Howard and Betty Naumann, Priest River, 6: 1959 Ford Thunderbird, Dave and Jerry Young, Eureka, Montana, 5: 1941 Willys Overland 441 Americar, Jay and Linda Tofflemire, Albany, Oregon, 4: 1951 Chevy Metal Woody, Allen and Dena Riffel, Bonners Ferry, 3: 1955 Chevy Belair Sports Coupe, Lavern Schoffer, Coeur d'Alene, 2: 1931 Ford 4-door, Tom Broderick, Bonners Ferry, and 1: 1941 Lincoln Continental, Connie Broderick, Bonners Ferry.

This year's Ladies Choice award went to the 1959 Corvette owned by Rick and Kim Kanski, the Ratrod award went to the 1946 Ford pickup owned by Tanner Egland, Sandpoint. The Work in Progress award was presented to Ray Yates, Bonners Ferry, for his 1957 Ford F-100 4x4, and the Hard Luck Story award went to Jay and Linda Tofflemire for their '41 Willys Overland.

The Best Motorcycle award went to Jeremy Huisentruit, Troy, Montana, for his 1972 Harley Davidson Sportster, best Special Interest Vehicle award was presented to Bob Sherman, Chattaroy, Washington, for his 1950 Crosley Super Sedan. The Cool Cruiser award went to Steve and Maureen Tillberg, Sandpoint, for their 1941 Plymouth panel truck.

The Antique Stock Car award for rigs dated 1940 or older went to the 1940 Ford two-door sedan owned by Harry and Gail Whitman, Hayden, Idaho, and the Classic Stock Car 1941-1959 award went to Mike and Jeanne Rosenberger, Sandpoint, for their 1955 Pontiac Catalina. The Classic Stock Pickup 1941-1959 award was presented to Rich Flinn, Hayden, for his 1948 Chevrolet Thriftmaster.

The Classic Stock Car 1960-1979 award went to Gary and Kathy Roberts, Rathdrum, Idaho, for their 1960 Chevy Impala, Classic Stock Pickup 1960-1979 honors went to Thomas and Brownwen Vetromile, Sagle, for their 1971 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT.

The Best Convertible award went to Connie Broderick, Bonners Ferry, for her 1941 Lincoln, Best Tractor honors went to Don Nystrom, Bonners Ferry, for his 1939 John Deere Model L. Marjorie Compton, town not given, and the Club Participation award went to the Sandpoint Injectors, who brought 22 rigs to the show.

The Long Distance award went to Jay and Linda Tofflemire, who brought their 1941 Willys over 500 miles to Bonners Ferry from Albany, Oregon. This year's Mayors Choice award went to the 1969 Dodge Charger owned by Loren and Bonnie Reeves.
