The Naples Community Group potluck has been moved to July 9 in hopes for better weather.

We're still having a meeting Monday, April 18, at the Naples Fire Hall to compile boxes for the Easter Food Drive and to prepare candy-filled eggs for the children's Easter egg hunt. The group is still working with Linda Lee Hunt at Naples School to confirm and finalize the date and time for the hunt, and we'll be inviting all area home schooled kids to attend as well.

The tentative date is the afternoon of Thursday, April 21, and volunteers are going to be welcome!

Thanks to Laura Cromwell's work, the Naples Community Group is officially an "unincorporated non-profit association," and a bank account has been set up at Panhandle State Bank.

The Boundary County Elementary Schools Mentoring Program is looking for adult volunteers to commit to visiting with a child once a week for one hour. Time can be spent playing outside or inside, reading, helping on an assignment or just visiting, all during school hours.

Naples School had four mentors last year, but currently no one is signed up. To find out more, call Joan Myers, (208) 267-7786 to find out more.

Thanks go out to school board candidate Paul Shelton for attending last Monday's meeting and sharing his goals in running for a school board position in May.

The May Naples Community Group Meeting will be held May 2 at the Naples Fire Hall. Everyone is asked to attend to help in planning for the potluck and community gathering.

Other dates to mark on your calendars: Naples School Dance, April 15. Moose Valley Farms Appreciation Day, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30. Grand opening of the Fall Creek Fire Station, 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Naples School Spring Carnival, Friday, May 20. School levy and school board election, Tuesday, May 17.
