School trustee defends Evergreen closure

Boundary County School District 101 Trustee

 

One of the hardest decisions I’ve had to help make was the closing of Evergreen school.  I went there when I was a child from grades 1 to 4. My children also went there. My son missed out on his fifth grade year with the closure.

 

The decision was made to save money. Was it good for kids? No. Will they get a good education? Yes.  When the state keeps cutting, the board has to took everywhere.

 

There are some things we have to keep doing, like plowing the snow in the driveway at the school and keeping minimal power on for insurance reasons.

 

 So here are the savings, take them for what you may:
