To the Editor:
I am writing this letter in support of Terry
Spence for County Commissioner.
I first met Terry Spence approximately nine
years ago when I was the Patrol Agent in Charge
of the Bonners Ferry Border Patrol Station and
he was the Commander of American Legion Post 55.
Mr. Spence used to coordinate events with me and
eventually got me involved in the Legion. As a
member of the Legion, I once again worked
closely with him.
We can always rely on him, sometimes on short
notice, to be available when we are called upon
to provide a firing party and taps for a
veteran’s funeral. He is key in coordinating our
local Memorial Day Parade, Memorial Day
Services, and Veterans Day Ceremonies. He is
always willing to talk to youngsters at our
middle and high schools about the military and
of the educational benefits available. As part
of the American Legion Post 55 Executive Board,
Mr. Spence has supported our first annual Post
55 Scholarship to two graduating Bonners Ferry
High School Seniors, provided financial support
to our Local Boundary County Robotics programs,
and assisted local veterans. During the winter
when the indoor range is open on Fridays, he
willingly volunteers and serves as the range
safety officer and assists new shooters.
Over the years of working with Mr. Spence it is
apparent that he has strong organizational,
planning and communicative skills. He gladly
gives up his time to volunteer and serve his
community. He is a problem solver and is willing
to make tough decisions. I am confident that the
skills he has learned in his military and
civilian careers will be an asset to this county
if he is elected to be one of our commissioners.
