To the Editor:
I am supporting the re-election of our Boundary
County Auditor/Recorder, Glenda Poston. Glenda
was born and raised in Boundary County, having
roots in the farming and timber industry. My
first meeting with Glenda McNearney Poston was
in 1967 when her mother would bring her into the
bank where I worked as a teller. She opened a
checking account for Glenda at a young age, and
that started her education in responsibility in
the business world. As far as I know, Glenda has
worked every day since at something.
I can tell you that she is one of the most
devoted and knowledgeable officials that I have
ever had the pleasure of meeting. Her hard work
and office skills led her to the job as office
manager for our Bonners Ferry local lumber
company when the timber industry was booming at
that time. That was a huge responsibility for a
young girl and she held that position for 29
years before the decline of the timber industry
and the mill closure. She was then appointed as
Boundary County Auditor by the County
Commissioners to fill the vacancy of that office
and has held that position since 2004.
Glenda is well known for supporting her
community by serving in the past and the present
in many organizations. You will always see her
at our county fair either planting flowers,
decorating booths, helping with the organizing
and giving support where needed. She has served
on the Community Hospital board of directors,
Fair Board, her church board, Bonners Ferry City
Planning and Zoning Board, the local Bonners
Ferry Rotary, and Beta Sigma Phi, just to
mention a few of the many hats she wears.
Glenda has been active and also been honored at
the state level. Two of the biggest awards being
elected by her peers as President of the Idaho
Association of Recorders and Clerks in 2015-16
and the prestigious award of being selected
Clerk of the Year for 2015.
With all of these tasks, she is the proud
grandmother to three active young girls. But,
please, don’t be surprised if you see her down
on her knees planting flowers in front of our
courthouse, decorating the famous courthouse
Christmas tree, or putting on a home-cooked noon
feast for her fellow workers.
I was very honored to serve beside her for eight
years as County Treasurer, and found her to
always be honest, gracious, helpful beyond
words, and supportive to all other elected
officials, employees, and the citizens of
Boundary County. She is a dedicated public
servant and I am very proud to put my name on
the list of her many supporters and friends.
