A 26-year old Bonners Ferry man suffered severe
burns Saturday while trying to light a warming
barrel while doing some work at what used to be
Wohali's Wrecking Yard south of Naples.
According to friends, Levi Faulconer had loaded
some wood into the barrel and, not realizing
there were still hot embers at the bottom,
poured some gasoline in to get the fire started.
Before he could move out of the way, the
gasoline flared, causing second and third degree
burns to his face, head, stomach, chest and
right arm.
Despite his injuries, he drove himself to
Boundary Community Hospital, and he was later
transferred to Harborview Burn Center, Seattle,
where he remains.
Friends have placed collection cans at
businesses throughout Boundary County to help
raise funds to offset his medical expenses, and
an account has been established in Levi's name
at Mountain West Bank, and donations can be made
at any bank branch. In
addition, a benefit at the Bonners Ferry Eagles
Aerie is being planned. |
