According to friends, Levi Faulconer had loaded some wood into the barrel and, not realizing there were still hot embers at the bottom, poured some gasoline in to get the fire started. Before he could move out of the way, the gasoline flared, causing second and third degree burns to his face, head, stomach, chest and right arm. Despite his injuries, he drove himself to Boundary Community Hospital, and he was later transferred to Harborview Burn Center, Seattle, where he remains. Friends have placed collection cans at businesses throughout Boundary County to help raise funds to offset his medical expenses, and an account has been established in Levi's name at Mountain West Bank, and donations can be made at any bank branch. In addition, a benefit at the Bonners Ferry Eagles Aerie is being planned. |
