The lady Badgers traveled to Spokane to play
in the Crossover Classic, recently renamed
the "Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic
Tournament" in memory of co- founder of the
Crossover Classic, Linda Sheridan.
The tournament hosted 64 teams from
Washington, Montana, and Idaho, from all
classifications.
The Badgers started the day at Ferris High
School and took on some tough competition,
losing to Kamiakan High School from
Kennewick, Washington, Mt. Spokane High
School, and East Valley.
Although they finished fourth in their pool,
the Badgers played some spectacular
volleyball.
In afternoon tournament play the Badgers
beat Rogers High School, Spokane, and lost a
couple close matches to Colville and
Newport.
This was a great experience for the Badgers
facing much taller teams, who ran a quick
offense and put up a solid block.
"Let's say we got adequate practice on
blocking hard hitters, block coverage, and
digging balls," coach Janis Tucker said.
"The Badgers struggled again on service
errors, but continually fought back for
control of the serve."
Although volleyball is certainly a team
sport, special recognition to top kill
leader McKenzie MacDonald who came through
with some key kills during the day's
matches; block leader Amanda Wilson who is
finally getting the hang of blocking,
Desirae Minor, leading digger who will
certainly have a few bruises to show for her
all out effort, and Emma Kelly- assist
leader.
