Dismal day for softball

By Coach Lauren Bartoe
The BFHS softball team met league rival
Timberlake on Saturday for a doubleheader. In
what was probably the worst weather in softball
history, the Badgers lost both games.
With a starting temperature of 35 degrees, plus
25 mile an hour winds and frequent snow squalls
limiting visibility, the players faced a wind
chill temperature of 25 degrees.
Hand warmers were kept inside gloves, a space
heater was provided in the dugout and blankets
and sleeping bags were piled on in between
innings.
The few highlights from the day were a great
line drive by freshman Gabby Blackmore in the
first game, and a stellar play from junior
Makenzie Carle who, while pitching, took a line
drive to the thigh - fell over, but still
managed to crawl to the ball and throw the girl
out at first base.
(The scores were so dismal Bartoe said she'd
rather not share them.)
The next week will be busy for the girls as they
have a double header vs. Libby on Monday, a home
game vs. Timberlake on Tuesday, a single game
vs. Newport, Washington, on Thursday and then
Senior Night, the last home double header vs.
Kellogg on Saturday starting at 11a.m. |
