The
University of Idaho hosts a kick-off celebration
from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 26, to mark
the start of Vandal Spirit Fridays for the new
academic and athletic year. The event will take
place at the Palouse Empire Mall, 1850 W.
Pullman Road in Moscow.
"Every Vandal Spirit Friday is a time for
members of the University of Idaho community and
friends – in Moscow and elsewhere – to celebrate
being part of this amazing university,” said
Nick Popplewell, director of athletics
marketing.
Popplewell said Vandal pride can be displayed
each Friday in a variety of ways, ranging from
wearing the university’s colors or branded
clothing to “sipping that great cup of joe from
a University of Idaho coffee mug.”
The Moscow event includes a pep rally with
university President M. Duane Nellis, athletics
director Rob Spear, head football Coach Robb
Akey, and Joe Vandal; the Vandal Spirit Squad
and Sound of Idaho Marching Band round out the
event. Kids young and old will be able to
interact and play games with Vandal
student-athletes and coaches. Refreshments from
area merchants will be available for purchase.
The Vandal Store will be on hand at the event
and will have the new fall line of Vandal
merchandise available for purchase. Vandal gear
is also available at the VandalStore in Boise,
821 W. Idaho St., and online at
www.vandalstore.com.
The Moscow Chamber of Commerce, Palouse Empire
Mall and other local businesses are supporting
the Moscow kick-off event.
