Choir concert Thursday with
Middle School and High School choirs
March 23, 2016
by Mary Fioravanti

Next Thursday, March 31 marks the date for the 3rd quarter choir concert. The upcoming choir concert is at 7:00 p.m. in Becker Auditorium at the high school, and will be showcasing the young talent from the middle school all the way up through the high school. We are promised some extraordinary performances with splendid surprises.

This concert has a lot of special things going on. The Mixed Choir is singing songs from Queen and Newsies. Newsies is a compilation of Disney songs. The Honor Choir is refurbishing the love songs performed on Valentine's Day and has some additional fun songs to impress the audience. The Women's (or Jazz) Choir is marching to the beat of their own drum, and are going to sing songs like "Pocketful of Sunshine" and "Try." The Middle School Choir is also following a Disney theme and will be singing songs from Aladdin and Pocahontas.

Students from the Honor Choir spent countless hours last year raising money to go on a Seattle trip for a competition there, but decided to use the money raised for something just as special this year. With the funds acquired last year, the Honor Choir successfully purchased new dresses for the girls and ties for the men. This stepping stone allowed them to change their ways from a traditional simple choir to a remarkable show choir. The first concert of the year proved just how good they were when they wowed the audience with their new concert attire and fancy moves.

With each concert, the performing arts students work hard to always outdo the last one, making them more striking and thrilling with each performance. After the Honor Choir had paved the way, the rest of the junior high and high school choirs have also taken steps toward transforming their performances to more entertaining feats with fun choreography.

The students are sure to once again impress the audience at the next concert and they hope all will attend.
