Community invited to special church speaker |

The community is invited to the Holy
Myrrhbearers Orthodox Church this Saturday, June
7 for a special presentation about missionary
activity throughout the world.
Fr. Gregory Horton has announced that the church
will host a guest speaker,
Markella Balasis, from the Orthodox Christian
Mission Center. Ms. Balasis is personally in
charge of the Support a Mission Priest program
at the Mission Center, and will be sharing her
stories and experiences at the church that
evening.
The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Great
Vespers with Artoklassia for the Feast of
Pentecost. At 6:00 p.m. there will be a light
dinner and the presentation by Markella Balasis.
The church will be gathering funds that evening
(as well as the next day) in order to help
support at least one missionary priest this
coming year. Fr. Horton notes that he has
personally met one missionary priest who was
serving eight different churches somewhat
distant from one another, using a bicycle for
transportation, in Tanzania, east Africa.
This evening event will be held at the Holy
Myrrhbearers Orthodox Church, 1959 Pleasant
Valley Loop, Bonners Ferry, Idaho (about three
miles south of town). The public is welcome to
attend. |
