Gaspar named Student of the Month |
March 26, 2014 |
A gregarious and athletic senior at Bonners
Ferry High School, Johnathan Gaspar is Upsilon
Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Women Educators'
student of the month for March. Not only is he
strong physically, he is academically strong as
well, carrying a 3.0 grade point average. His success in his favorite sport, wrestling, and his strength in his classes he attributes to his coach, Conrad Garner, who he says informed as a freshman that he had to have good grades to keep wrestling. Johnathan has wrestled since he was in the seventh grade and last year took third place at state competition and this year took fourth in the heavy weight class. He hopes his wrestling moves will aid him in his Mr. BFHS competition, where his talent will be interpretive dancing. Johnathan likes making things with his hands. This is reflected in his enjoyment of welding and fabrication work. This class along with English class are his favorites. Helping his dad with projects is what he does with his outside of school hours. Together they are rebuilding a trailer into a large long haul trailer. For fun he also likes to read Superman and Captain America comic books. For his senior project he chose to job shadow a nurse to find out more about that job. As a result he knows that that is not the career for him. Instead he wants to pursue his enjoyment in welding and fabrication. He plans to attend Montana State University in Billings where he will seek an applied associate degree in fabrication and collision repair. Johnathan credits his parents, Don and Helen Gaspar and Julie Mathews, for their influence and support in his accomplishments as he works toward his goals. |
