Mariah Rae named Student of the Month |
December 9, 2013 |
A
junior at Bonners Ferry High School, Mariah Rae
is a happy student who likes to laugh, enjoys
humor and have fun in her many activities. She
is November's Student of the Month, selected by
the Delta Kappa Gamma Women Educators. In winter she enjoys snowboarding and skiing at Schweitzer, but her real love is a summer activity of waterskiing on the Pend Oreille River. There she skis, not just a relaxing event, but on a difficult and challenging course where balls are set up and she must race around the balls as fast as the boat pulling her can go. This requires a great deal of strength, balance and agility. She is hoping that her skills in skiing may open up the possibility of college scholarships in Arizona or Florida. Mariah’s school activities include playing forward on the soccer team and participating on the dance team. She will be a participant in the Distinguished Young Women program. She says she is a book worm and, as an A and B student, she presently takes dual enrollment classes in history and biology and will be taking a communication class next semester. She is also enrolled in the CNA class, a prerequisite for becoming a pediatric nurse which is her career goal, offered by the hospital. Even though a junior she has already planned her senior project of job shadowing a pediatric nurse at the pediatric center. Her enjoyment of health and science classes adds support to her nursing career choice. Mariah’s states that she is blessed by having parents, Vic and Tess Rae, who always give her encouragement and support. Telling her that they are proud of her gives her the security to do well in her many activities and efforts. |
