Folks young
and old turned out on a perfect spring
day June 26 for the Friends of the
Restorium's annual community picnic and
barbecue. |

What a gorgeous day, specially ordered for the
occassion by Larry Dirks, for a picnic!
The Friends of the Restorium send out thanks to
the community for the great turn out Sunday,
June 26, for their annual Community Picnic and
Barbecue Fundraiser, which everyone agrees was a
great success.
Dirks, Larry DeVore, Larry Pennock and Tom
Sumpter manned the grill, turning out hotdogs
and hamburgers grilled to perfection. A table
groaned under the weight of salads and baked
beans donated by 12 local churches, and 70
home-baked pies were donated by the ladies of
the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, all
served up by members of the Friends of the
Restorium.
While folks were happily filling their plates
and enjoying good company and beautiful weather,
Jeannie Robinson, Kathi O'Leary, nine-year-old
Justin DeChambeau, the Williams Boys and the duo
of Cindy Hortan and Paul Bartlett filled the air
with sweet music.
Restorium staff provided tours of the Restorium
facilities, and Restorium resident Ray Olson
gave tours of the beautiful Restorium garden.
The event wrapped up with a pie and surplus food
auction by Richard Hollenbeck and auctioneer
Willie Peachey.
