Washington man uses teen girl to smuggle meth

A Davenport, Washington, drug dealer who used a 16-year-old girl in the worst possible way while transporting meth in Boundary County has been sentenced to a 20-month fixed term in Idaho prison with a maximum of seven years. According to court documents, David G. Hanks, 45, was arrested by Bonners Ferry Police Officer Willie Cowell February 11 after being caught traveling in Boundary County with a 16-year-old girl in his care and 28 grams of methamphetamine in his possession, four grams found secreted in the girl's vagina. Hanks was charged with trafficking methamphetamines, a charge later amended to possession with intent to deliver, and with felony injury to a child. He subsequently pled guilty to both charges. He was sentenced last week by Judge Barbara Buchanan to 20 months in prison, determinate, 64 months indeterminate, a $500 fine, $500 reimbursement to the county, and $931 costs.
