Friendly reminder; no fireworks in Bonners Ferry |
June 22, 2017 |
As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the
City of Bonners Ferry would like to issue a
friendly reminder to city residents and those
visiting the city for the holiday about city
ordinances and Idaho State Code regarding
fireworks inside city limits.
Per Bonners Ferry City Code 7-4-4, no fireworks
may be discharged within the city limits.
“Fireworks” are defined in Idaho Code section
39-2602 as any combustible or explosive
composition, or any substance or combination of
substances, or article prepared for the purpose
of producing a visible or audible effect by
combustion, explosion, deflagration or
detonation.
This includes all aerial fireworks as well as
ground fireworks.
Violation of this code section is a misdemeanor
offense and the City Police Department will
enforce the ordinance. Further Idaho Code
section 39-2611 dictates that parents/guardians
are liable for damages caused by any minor child
through the use of fireworks.
In lieu of residents lighting off fireworks the
City of Bonners Ferry would encourage everyone
to attend the Fourth of July Celebration at the
Boundary County Fairgrounds.
The fireworks for this event have been specially
permitted by the City per Idaho Code
requirements. As always, the fireworks display
promises to be impressive and is free for one
and all to enjoy.
If anyone has questions or concerns about the
use of fireworks inside the city limits, please
feel free to contact the City of Bonners Ferry
at (208) 267-3105. To report the use of
fireworks within city limits, citizens should
utilize the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office
dispatch line at (208) 267-3151. |
