The University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton
School of Music will host a revitalized summer
music camp June 18-24, restarting a tradition
that lasted over 50 years.
The Lionel Hampton Music Camp is an
all-inclusive program featuring classical and
jazz instruction for high-school-aged students.
The University of Idaho music faculty will teach
and inspire students as they explore almost a
variety of music-related topics in a fun, summer
camp environment.
The camp features:
* Specialized instruction for brass, woodwinds, percussion, strings,
piano and voice
* One-on-one study and group classes with UI faculty members
* Daily rehearsals and performances in large ensembles such as choirs,
orchestras, jazz ensembles and concert bands
* Coached chamber ensembles for all participants
* Housing and meals in the residence halls for non-local students
* Evening recitals featuring the faculty and students that are open to
the public
* Fun evening activities for all students including mini-golf and movie
nights
Registration closes on June 9. Full-time and day
camp options are available. Camp tuition is $275
with an additional $290 for students needing
room and board. The full camp schedule and
registration are available online at:
