Museum gearing up for summer opening |

Spring is springing all around Boundary County,
and summer is soon to appear. The Boundary
County Museum is preparing for its summer
opening, when open days are expanded to include
Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 pm.
This year the opening day program will be held
on Saturday, May 13, beginning at 10 a.m.
Highlights of the day will include the program
"Dams in Boundary County, Past and Present."
Mike Klaus will present on the recent
renovations of the Moyie Dam, followed by a step
back into history with Howard Kent, and the
historic dams that have played a role in the
county. Howard will also give a presentation on
some of the bridges that have spanned the
Kootenai and Moyie Rivers.
John Standal will conduct a brief feature on the
firearms display, in particular some of those
included in the Ross McCall Estate.
Frontier chili, beer bread and cornbread will be
served in the Railroad Courtyard promptly at
noon. Chili Masters Vic White, Dave Gray and
Howard Kent will be serving up their finest
chili recipes.
In the afternoon, Laura Anderson will be
conducting a hands-on pine needle basket making
workshop beginning at 1 p.m. in the Portrait
Hall area. All materials will be provided for
making the baskets.
Come join in the fun and enjoy your Boundary
County Museum! The day will be without charge,
but donations are always appreciated. |
