Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women program
is excited to announce that KXLY’s chief
meteorologist Kris Crocker is returning to
Bonners Ferry for a third time to emcee this
year’s Distinguished Young Women Scholarship
program, “A Night at the Oscars,” on Saturday,
April 29.
Kris brings us the forecast every weeknight on
KXLY4 News at 5, 6 and 11. Her dedication to
providing the most accurate weather forecasts in
the Inland Northwest has been recognized with
five Emmy nominations. She proudly holds the
coveted "Seal of Approval" from both the
American Meteorological Society and the National
Weather Association.
Kris completed the Broadcast Meteorology program
at Mississippi State University and earned
undergraduate and graduate degrees in journalism
and communications at Oklahoma State University.
Kris is an Idaho native. It was in her hometown
of Idaho Falls where she started her weather
career in 1993. Kris and her husband, Jerry,
have three daughters: Sophie, 13, Danielle, 10,
and Gabrielle, also 10.
Kris loves taking advantage of the many outdoor
activities available in the Inland Northwest,
but she especially likes to golf, ski, snowboard
and hike.
In the community, Kris has played violin with
the Spokane Falls Community Orchestra, is an
avid Spokane Symphony goer, and is a member of
the Spokane Symphony Associates. She is an
active fundraiser for many local charity
organizations, and is the driving force behind
KXLY's Coats 4 Kids campaign.
The local Distinguished Young Women committee is
grateful to Kris for taking the time to host
this year’s program, and welcomes her back to
Bonners Ferry.
Tickets for this year’s show are currently on
sale for $12 at Mountain Mike’s Health Food
Store. All seating is reserved, and tickets sell
