Bonner County seeks murder suspect
April 6, 2017
IN CUSTODY!
The Bonner County Sheriff's Office is seeking the whereabouts of a known Sandpoint area transient in connection to a murder investigation that began at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, when an elderly Trestle Creek Road man reported his wife unresponsive.

Detectives arriving on scene found the woman dead, and though the cause of death has yet to be determined, are pursuing the death as a homicide, and Nathan Lane Utt, 41, as a suspect.

Utt, who is 6'1" tall and weighs 180 pounds, is known to frequent area soup kitchens, food banks and charitable organizations, and he may have been given a ride on Highway 200 near Trestle Creek shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 5. Detectives say he usually carries a back pack and is likely wearing a blue jacket or geen full-length trench coat.

While no details have been disclosed and the name of the victim remains withheld pending notification of her family, detectives say they do have probable cause to arrest Utt on a charge of first degree murder. They say he armed and dangerous and that he should not be approached.

Anyone who has seen him recently or knows where he might be, please call the Bonner County Sheriff's Office at (208) 263-8417 or call 911.
